Description

The Fibber McGee and Molly Show
The 1941/1942 Season

Known as one of the best comedies and a program sought after by collectors, Fibber McGee and Molly also stood out as one of the most patriotic shows of the World War II era and beyond. The humor balanced with national pride made the program rather unique and special, as heard in The Fibber McGee and Molly Show, The 1941/1942 Season.

According to John Dunning, Fibber McGee and Molly was the most patriotic show on the air, save one. Although remaining at heart a comedy, a chance seemed hardly ever missed to comment on some aspect of the war and how it affected those on the homefront. One of the most memorable episodes of the entire series deals with just such an event, when Fibber buys beef on the black market, finding out of course that it was rotten.

Cautionary tales draped in comedy as well as characters involved in scrap drives and working in the war plants, showed just how committed to the cause the entire cast and crew of the show was. Fibber and Molly drove the point home each week, ending the shows encouraging listeners to buy bonds and participate in home front support activities.

Enjoy an entire season restored to sparkling audio quality in The Fibber McGee and Molly Show, The 1941/1942 Season. Fans can laugh along listening to not only one of the funniest radio shows ever, but also a show with a whole lot of pride and heart. Enjoy 19 hours, 37 shows of pure fun.

As always, Fibber and company keep me entertained. Much better than the garbage we get on television these days!
