Description

The Fibber McGee and Molly Show
The 1946/1947 Season

Many factors go into making a radio show a classic. One of the myriad aspects of Fibber McGee and Molly that does so is the number of laughable, well written characters that people the show’s entire run. Listen as Fibber and Molly host a whole passel of blowhards, jokesters, and more in the 1946/1947 Season!

Led by Fibber and Molly, the parade of characters that make this show one of the shining jewels of radio comedy marched to its own tune. Characters came and went, much like real life, another aspect that endeared the show to listeners every week.

Bill Thompson, a Chicago actor that contributed to the show’s success, voiced several well-remembered characters. The Old Timer, Boomer, Depopoulous, and Wallace Wimple all owed their popularity and existence to Thompson. World War Two, however, led to Thompson joining the Navy in 1942.

Without missing a beat, as far as listeners knew, characters even more cantankerous and funny stepped in to fill the gap. Doc Gamble, always ready to argue with McGee over unpaid medical bills, and flighty war worker Alice Darling were just two of many characters that kept the show lively and entertaining as years passed.

Fibber McGee and MollyThe 1946/1947 Season features a full season of shows, wonderfully restored to sparkling audio quality and showcasing what fans, new and old, love about the program. The jokes, the wit, and the characters!

Fibber McGee and Molly expert, Karl Pearson, is the Series Contributor for this set. Enjoy 19 hours, 38 shows of pure fun.

5 of 5 So much better than Public Domain March 31, 2021
Reviewer: Michael Gonzales from San Diego, CA United States
I already had these episodes from public domain sources but I simply got tired of all the distortion and system noise.
I broke down and spent the money on quality copies.
Wheat and chaff.
So much happier with Radio Archives Copy.
