Ken Curtis, Chuck-Wagon Jamboree and Gospel Hymns

This Show is a West Coast Version of Nashville's Grand Ole' Opry. Ken Curtis is a far cry here to the character he played as Festus on Television's "Gunsmoke". At the shows ending, Ken asks everyone to quieten down for the singing of an old fashioned Gospel Hymn. The Show ended with a different Gospel Hymn, generally one we all know from years back.
Another Radio Show, "The Big Show" with Tallulah Bankhead also ended with a Hymn written especially for Tallulah Bankhead by the Show's talented Musical Director, Meredith Willson, later composer of "The Music Man" and many other Broadway Musicals. The song was "May the Good Lord Bless and Keep You", with the first verse sung by Tallulah Bankhead, and the remaining verses sung by each of the Shows guests for that particular evening, with a special closing by Miss Bankhead for a prayer of remembrance for the Soldiers overseas.
Programs very appropriate for this upcoming Memorial Day tomorrow, May 25, 2015.
