G-8 and His Battle Aces #27 Audiobook
Staffel of the Floating Heads
by Robert J. Hogan
Read by Nick Santa Maria

They called G-8 the Flying Spy. History never recorded his exploits—and for good reason! No one would ever believe World War I was that wild!

G-8 saw the grim visitor from the grave; stood startled while the phantom spoke its words of doom... “Lieutenant Macon,” it said, “you have killed me. You have taken my life when I did you no harm. You saw me die and fall — like this. Look at me now, and be cursed for your murder. I will haunt you until the end of your days.” G-8 didn’t believe in ghosts... until that haunting apparition took form before his eyes and all hell emptied from the graves in Flanders! Floating heads spit Spandaus steel... Sending G-8 on the bloodiest mission ever launched in crimson skies!

The 1930s saw a level of innovation in American fiction possibly like no other period in the 20th Century, largely due to the work being published in pulp magazines. Authors were taking established genres in different directions, but something even more imaginative occurred. Genres were no longer viewed as separate things, but classifications that could share tropes, that could be blended together. No one did this better or with more fantastic results than Robert J. Hogan in his G-8 stories.

Not only did fans find high flying aviation adventure when reading G-8, they were also entertained by both subtle and glaring elements of horror. Undead pilots and literal monsters filled the skies, but Hogan also infused each G-8 tale with a tension akin to horror stories, a real sense of dread and fear of whatever evil G-8 fought, and that America’s Master Spy might succumb to the terror himself.

Nick Santa Maria brings G-8, Nippy and Bull to thrilling life in their desperate struggle to defeat a deadly nemesis unlike anything they have ever before encountered in ‘Staffel of the Floating Heads’. Originally published in the December 1935 issue of G-8 and His Battle Aces magazine.

Nick DeGregorio composed the music for the G-8 and His Battle Aces series of audiobooks.
