Finally found an Operator 5 issue I could delightfully sink my teeth into after two tries, and it was better than ever thanks to this audiobook adaptation narrated by Milton Bagby! A new emperor Montezuma has arisen in Mexico, human sacrifices are on the rise, and any attempt to stop this despot leads to people literally exploding from the inside out "Scanners"-style! When I read previous O5 issues "Masked Invasion" and "Cavern of the Damned", I just couldn't feel the strength of the plot or the lead character Jimmy Christopher. But thanks to Mr. Bagby I not only felt the perseverance of Operator 5, but also his moments of sorrow, desperation, fear, and determination in the midst of chaos! And the plot was better too! I've usually only gone for full cast audiobooks in the past due to difficulty focusing on one narrator but Radio Archives has set a new standard for voice actor quality that surpasses any other audiobook publisher I've known in my life!
