Doc Savage: The War Makers
August 14, 2023
Reviewer: Richard Swol from Lindstrom, MN United States
Doc Savage as channeled by Will Murray. All the thrills of the original books but with a subtly more modern take. By modern I simply mean a little little less blatant racism and sexism of the 1930's and 40's. There is also a subtle bit more antiwar sentiment. Mind you that unless you are looking specifically for it, you'll probably notice it. This really is a fine Doc novel and worthy of the series. The audio portion is highly professional and impressive. I recommend this book and any others in this series. Radio Archives is a treasure.

Reviewer: Joseph Allen from Jacksonville, FL United States
Just finished listening to "Doc Savage - The War Makers" by Will Murray, based on a concept a concept by Ryerson Johnson, released by Radio Archives.
Odd zones where no motion of any kind can exist are popping up all across the United States, and Doc Savage and his crew, along with Pat Savage, are facing a new foe who is calling himself the Baron In Black who is using stolen technology that Doc had thought was safely locked away by the United States Government. Now with a deadline of five days before the Untied States must surrender, Doc and company must solve the riddle of who is the Baron In Black and why he is intent on killing the Man of Bronze and crew for revenge. And for once, Pat Savage may discover that she is in way over her head with no way out.

I'm currently listening to this latest edition in the Wild Adventures of Doc Savage audiobooks, and I am enjoying it immensely. I have every one of the entries in this series, and they never fail to entertain. Michael McConnohie's narration and voice characterizations are a pleasure to listen to. He really brings the book to life. I highly recommend this audiobook for all of us die hard Doc Savage fans and anyone who loves old style high adventure.

Doc Savage Audiobook - The War Makers

Read the hardback version when it was released, but enjoyed tremendously this audio version. to be able to sit back and let a great voice tell the tale is even better. Fine story, no spoilers being given here. Fast action and interaction between the group all fits so well with what we have read in the past. If I have any less than positive comment then it would be, for me the introduction or relaxing of Doc Savage's viewpoints and humour concerned a little. That's all. Highly recommended.

Still working on this audio book, but it is fast moving and has a great plot. I am sure Doc will save the day somehow, but it isn't apparent yet as to how he will. Gotta keep listening!!!!
