An Orson Welles production.......

The Mercury Theater On The Air is probably one of the most significant series of Radio Shows ever produced in the medium.
The status Orson Welles has achieved in Radio, makes any of his works of great historical and significant interest.
In LIVE Radio, once Orson Welles saw the "ON THE AIR" sign light up in the Studio, he knew a performance had to be given whether he was ready or not.
Needless to say, his Radio works are of great significance, and he performed all of his Radio Shows during the Golden Age of Radio.
This set comprised of the Mercury Theater On The Air is highly recommended, as he only has one commercial for each one hour program, his scripts are exceptionally written, the music for the most part is composed by the noted Bernard Hermann and the Shows deal with Classic Literature as was the case with the initial programs on his later Campbell Soup Playhouse.
What more can one say about Orson Welles, and I am sure there is much, much more!

Great sound, as expected from Radio Archives! Even though I had all these shows, I knew these would be an upgrade, so I happily bought them. Has become a weekly series for the time being on my overnight show on WBAI - The Dustbin of History, 1 to 3am Tuesday overnights. (had to work in a cheap plug!)

Outstanding Release of an Outstanding Show

Orson Welles Mercury Theater is probably one of the most important OTR series ever produced. Although most notable for its infamous War of the Worlds broadcast, each and every episode in the series is fantastic storytelling for the Audio Medium.
This collection from RadioArchives is probably the only release I've ever seen that collects these great episodes and the quality is outstanding. Dracula in particular (my personal favorite for years) sounds better here than I have ever heard it and I doubt it will ever sound any better. The quality of the restoration is as amazing as the quality of the show itself.
