Tom Conway had some very big shoes to fill in taking the role of Sherlock Holmes, as it was so ingrained in the minds of the Radio audience with the voice of Basil Rathbone. Nigel Bruce complements the change-over and helps out with the transition. Tom Conway was a very good Actor we lost way too soon. The Radio Archives staff have done an exceptional job in finding and restoring these long forgotten episode in sparkling audio and tonal quality. I am sure they sound today as good as when initially broadcast if not better. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED and especially so for devotees of Sherlock Holmes.

I like this series across the board. No matter if Rathbone or Conway played Holmes. I do prefer Rathbone but Conway did an excellent job. He did slip into the role easily. He made the role his own after awhile. I did like Bruce as Watson. He was always there when Holmes needed him. I wish there more episodes.

A Little Dubious

As a long-time fan of the Rathbone/Bruce Sherlock Holmes films, I was a little dubious that Tom Conway could pull off the role as well as Basil Rathbone. Tom Conway - 'The Falcon' - as the World's Greatest Consulting Detective? Tturns out, he's actually pretty good -- not as good as his predecessor, of course, but very credible. Thank you, Radio Archives, for introducing me to these rare and unknown shows! Let's have more Sherlock Holmes soon, OK?
