Description

The Phantom Detective #108 Audiobook
Streamlined Murder
by Robert Wallace
Read by Milton Bagby

Forged in war, The Phantom Detective wages a one-man battle on crime! Solving impossible mysteries and delivering his own justice, he is the underworld’s masked nightmare!

The Phantom Detective races to pursue the greedy perpetrators of shocking crimes when mystery stalks in the wake of the death of an aging silk mill tycoon!

In many ways, The Phantom Detective is the Pulp character that never truly got his due in history or among fans. Debuting right after the Shadow, The Phantom, only called that and not The Phantom Detective in the stories, claims the title of the second pulp hero to lead his own magazine, beating Doc Savage only by a matter of weeks. This placement in Pulp history alone should have guaranteed Thrilling Publications’ entry into Hero Pulps an exalted place, maybe even counting him as one of the Trinity of Pulp, a title usually bestowed upon the aforementioned Shadow, Doc Savage, and either The Avenger or The Spider. Add to that the fact that The Phantom Detective Magazine was published for nearly twenty years, making it the longest running Pulp magazine ever and that there are 170 adventures, the third most in Hero Pulps, and it seems tailor made for The Phantom Detective to be a part of Pop Culture. But, oddly enough, this didn’t take place. Largely forgotten with the end of his series in 1953, The Phantom Detective’s legacy has been kept alive thanks to dedicated collectors and pulp fans and, arguably, because the character has fallen into the public domain, making it available for writers and publishers to produce new tales featuring the character.

Streamlined Murder was originally published in the February 1942 issue of The Phantom Detective Magazine and is read with pulse pounding intensity by award winning voice actor Milton Bagby.
