"The Railroad Hour" aired on Monday nights providing a night of music for the listener's across the Nation's airwaves. Gordon MacRae and his guests compared well with Tallulah Bankhead's "The Big Show" in is' roster of famous entertainer's. Carmen Dragon Conductor of the Hollywood Bowl, provided the Musical Direction as Meredith Willson conducted on "The Big Show". "The Railroad Hour" was sponsored by the American Association of Railroads, and the opening theme music was appropriately chosen being, "I've been workin' on the railroad". Jerome Kern, Sigmund Romberg, Richard Rogers and Victor Herbert are samples of the talent that can be heard on this Show. Jeanette MacDonald (MGM Star) and many Metropolitan Opera singers were heard on this program including "Princess Pat".
Monday nights on the Radio was indeed a "Night of Musical Delights".
